Nurses today differ from nurses in the past because they are now more knowledgable in their skills and are able to preform different tasks. The nurses are more hands on then doctors and communicate more with patients. Nurses during the Civil War or during any other times years ago were not very well educated and did not work in sanitary conditions like today. Also almost all nurses back then were female unlike today when we see many male nurses walking aroundour hospitals.
